Faerydays: An Esbat with the Alder King

Hi there, pornies. I hope you are okay. I just celebrated September’s Full Moon as I write this entry, more than a week ahead, but I want to share the experience with you because I did something different this time: I invited the Alder King to my ritual.

I’ve been thinking about it for some time, and He has that Moon vibe, so I decided to give this idea a try and see what happened. Guess who’s very happy about this? Since my Sabbaths and Esbats have been a bit scripted for a while, following the same pattern to build and habit, it was refreshing to have a new experience and feel a new energy in there. I’ll summarize in case any wants the details (as much as I can share, of course):

He’s very, very connected to the Moon. I feel it would be okay to invite the Alder King to the next time I work with the Moon or celebrate the Full Moon. His energy is soft, not as dangerous as you might expect coming from a King, but you definitely feel Him when he arrives. I still remained respectful at all times, though. I’m not taking any risks.

I offered the Erlköning a bit of water, and He asked for two more offerings, one that He seems to like a lot (a dried rose leaf, the biggest I had in that moment,) and the other to try me, to see what I would do. He then explained why He did this last thing to me, and I smiled like a fool. Let’s say He showed His trickster self, is very, very understanding. Days later, I offered Him a white flower and He seemed to realy like that one, while a purple morning glory was just... okay when I gave it to Him.

The Alder King always spoke in verse, which is not surprising considering He comes from poems. I speak to Him in verse as well, which becomes easier when I go with the flow. However, sometimes it’s hard to get what he’s saying, my mind has to fill in the blanks, because I get what he says, but don’t get the exact, precise words of the message. Does it make any sense to you?

As for appearance, I have seen the Erlköning as an old, old man dressed in layers of white, with long, white hair and bread, grey eyes, and a thin, tall body, but also dressed in olive, brown and brownish red, with dark eyes. I’m not sure what each look represents, but I’m inclined to think the white clothes are for His true form, when He means business, while the colorful ones are for a more passive role.

Finally, I did a reading abiut Him a couple of days after that to have a clear message, one I didn't have to read between the lines to get completely (it's exhausting, come on). He didn't like that much, although He allowed me to do the reading nonetheless, but that it is better not to do it again any time soon.

And that’s it. I’ll wait for the next Esbat (October 1st, if I remember correctly), and see if there are any changes. ^^ So far, however, I’m still happy and eager to get to know the Alder King better!

Kinky regards, K!
