Comic review: Circles

Hi there, pornies! How are you today? I hope in the mood for some comic reading. I had the pleasure of reading a comic, Circles, by Clive Masteir, and it was a great surprise! It was different from the first one, but in a good way. Also, you can read it for free in his Instagram. Thanks a bunch to the author for sending me a review copy!

  • Print Length: 83 pages
  • Publisher: Selfpublished (September 28, 2020)

  • Genres: Gay, SciFi, Romance, Drama
  • Rating: 4 / 5
Stuck together in the middle of a wheat field, waiting for their friends to join them, Ryan and Simon suddenly find themselves in the middle of a candid conversation, that surprises both of them with the level of honesty they have displayed in front of each other, which none of them thought was possible before, since the two (ever since high school) wasn’t exactly best friends. But now, it seems, the former high school bully and his former teen victim have found more things in common than either of them had ever thought. Gay romance comics with a sci-fi twist. No sex.

This story is more developed and with characters I liked more than in Arrival (I cannot not compare them, sorry). The script is stronger, has a better structure, the ideas are good and I liked the dynamics between Ryan and Simon. It was all the more natural. I could feel what they did while reading and looking at them, something that doen't happen that often.

The art is WAY much better in comparison! I liked that Clive kept some ideas from his previous work, but thisn felt new, fresh, and better The colors are amazing, if you ask me, and the shots were justv as well. I liked how the colors played with the characters, the environmen, and seems to mach their mood, no mattter how much Sun there is!

The SciFi element is very subtle, almost imperceptible until the end of it, and now I wonder "why didn't I think about it?!" Such is the power. My only complain would be about some of the characters' postures. They seemed to be bored now and then because of it, but you already know it doesn't stop you from enjoying the reading!

Circles, by Clive Masteir, was a great surprise and an improvemente in the creator's work. I liked it a lot and even more because of how good it looks. I loved Ryan and Simon and their human AF conversation about the past, how truths were said and affected their relationship. If you want a quick, good and cute reading, go for it and get your copy already. You won't regret it!
