Hello there, pornies. How did you week start? I had the chance to get lost in a fluffy short story form the hand of an amazing author, who I've already reviewed many times in this place. ** Young Adult M/M Friends-to-Lovers Short Story **
Taylor and Josh have been friends since the third grade. When Josh gets an ultimatum, he realizes his feelings might be more than just friendly.
But Taylor is his best friend; Josh can’t ask him to prom … can he?
“We Are Going to be Friends” is a fluffy novella that jumps back and forth in time to show how two high school boys accidentally fall in love with each other.

The story is pretty simple, and there's not much room for surprises since it is obvious from the beginning that We Are Going to be Friends is going to be a happy and cute AF story. However, who said you won't enjoy it? I did for sure, and liked all of the chapters, the characters, even the secondary ones. It is a story filled with humor but also some nerves related to the coming out process.

I liked the most how the story kept you interested in what was happening. Sara Dobie Bauer made each and every scene interesting enough to immerse you in her sweet plot, whether with dialogues, descriptions, sense of humor, or her characters. There's always something interesting happening, and since it is a short story you read it in a few minutes.

However, and this is a con of being a fan of this woman's work, I wished it had been longer, maybe twice as long, because I wanted to know more about the characters, see how they developed into who they were in the present, explore the relationship between Taylor and Josh... I felt I was denied a good part of something better. That's not fair!

All in all, We Are Going to be Friends is a story many of us would have liked to experience at high school (those who did, I hatelove you for being so lucky). The simple plot, the likeable characters, along with the silly dialogues made it a pleasure to dwell in the beautiful drama of being a teenager. Sara Dobie Bauer proved she can write cute things even with the simplest of ideas.
