Manga: Zombie Hide Sex Vol. 2

Rise and shine, pornies! I hope you're in the mood for some horror and romance, also blood and zombies, because today's manga in filled with all those. Today I come with Zombie Hide Sex Vol. 2, by Yuo Yodogawa. I read a fan translation by Tenshi no Akuma Scans since there is no not an official English release right now; please support the mangaka if possible.

  • Print Length: 182 pages
  • Publisher: Houbunsha (July 29, 2019)
  • Publication Date: July 29, 2019
  • Genres: Gay, Fantasy, Horror, Zombies
  • Rating: 4 / 5 stars.
Chigasaki, bitten by a zombie, narrowly manages to pull through, thanks to help Mishiba, who begins to realize that her feelings for him run deeper than he thought. While taking refuge in a research center, the two men meet other survivors, and Mishiba feels the sting of jealousy when Chigasaki reunites with a former colleague from the army. More than anything, he is afraid of losing Chigasaki, but the cure for Chigasaki's infection is only temporary, and the virus is still there in his blood, biding its time...

I re read the first volume right after dwelling this one, and I just want to add that the story has a lot of dubious consent, so if you're uncomfortable with it you might better skip it. However, what started as an alliance with some abusive overtones quickly turned into a healthier and more common romance. Mishiba and Chigasaki are far from being a perfect couple, but they make it work.

We get to know more about what it's happening in the story, how the zombie virus got started, and there a few scenes that bring you to the edge. Yuo Yodogawa did a good job more than once playing with the atmosphere and the elements of this story. While it's true that it has a few clichés, they work very well, making Zombie Hide Sex Vol. 2 a very entertaining reading.

On the not so bright side, I have to say that the development is a bit rushed. I expected something more detailed, situations a bit more uncomfortable, but some events lacked emotions, and there's also the issue that the romance is not fully exploded. I get that this is a highly erotic manga, but it had all the right ingredients to create something dramatic, psychologically complex, yet it fell a bit flat.

All in all, Zombie Hide Sex Vol. 2 is a reading that entertains and makes you travel to a world that is horrifying and alluring in equal measure. While it's true that it could be better, it's effective and tells a story that stays with you after a while, even taking many risks regarding morality and dependency. It can be a challenge for some readers, but in the end I loved the chiaroscuros.

Kinky regards, K!
