Manga Review: Like Two Peas on a Pod

Hello pornies. How are you today? If you're in the mood for some good readings, then I have good news for you as well because I just finished a manga that you're gonna fall in love with for sure. It is Like Two Peas in a Pod, by Gorou Kanbe. Thanks to the publisher for sending me a review copy for an honest review!

  • Print Length: 208 pages.
  • Publisher: Tokyo Pop (April 19, 2021).
  • Publication Date: April 19, 2021.
  • Genres: Drama, Gay, Manga, Romance, Yaoi
  • Rating: 4,5 / 5
It began with a mistake. When Tanaka and Nakata are given each other’s papers back, they come to a horrible realization...
They have almost identical names. And test results. And body types. And taste in fashion. And sports scores. And hobbies. The list goes on, and as annoying as it is, at least they know they always have each other.
And maybe, just maybe, their similarities run even deeper.

After reading Don't Call Me Dirty and its sequel (which I was SO SURE I had reviewed!), I just had to give this book a chance and see what it was about because the synopsis give just too little information, but the idea of two guys so similar was too interesting to pass. Turns out I was reading like a madman and finishing it in record time. I had to stop a bit to do this crazy, useless thing called sleeping, but I was done right after waking up.

Just wow. Like Two Peas in a Pod is a funny story that makes you smile in every page, but it has a good dose of drama that is impossible not to enjoy. The confusion and mixed feelings many of us experience as we're discovering we may not be as straight as we though are expressed in a raw, honest way. Gorou Kanbe is already one of my favorite mangakas, that's for sure!

The art is just beautiful, with delicate designs that create an atmosphere that makes you feel back in high school, when life was much simpler but seemed to be so much complex. I guess it is actually like that because there are many things you still don't know about yourself and the world, and that's exactly what you re experience as you go through the pages.

I feel we could have gotten a bit more of context in this story, but being a young adult book and a standalone book it is actually very good. Like Two Peas in a Pod gives you enough material to forget about real life for a while and enjoy a love story that seems lost from the beginning. I think Gorou Kanbe rushed the ending a little bit, if you ask me, but I know it is the kind of ending you will like. Mixing humor, romance, and an attractive dose of drama with beautiful art, it's a manga you want to read.
