Manga: Dick Fight Island Series

So. Much. Has. Changed. You wouldn't believe it. I'm this close to spill the tea and the beans and everything else, but for now let's stay with a nice manga series that made me laugh a lot from beginning to end. If you like easy, funny readings that you don't need to take too seriously, then Dick Fight Island Series, by Reibun Ike, will be a great pick for you.

  • Mangaka: Reibun Ike.
  • Publication: 2019 - 2021.
  • Publisher: SuBLime.
  • Print Length: 2 volumes.
  • Genres: Comedy, Fantasy, Gay, Romance, Yaoi.
  • 4 / 5 stars.
  • Synopsis of the first volume:
Eight mighty island warriors battle to become king. The deciding factor? The one who comes last, of course!
Eight islands represented by their best warriors must battle it out in a tournament to decide their king. To win this battle of endurance, it’s not the last one standing but the last one coming that matters!
The tournament to choose the next king of the islands is about to begin. The rules are simple—whoever comes first loses! Participating warriors protect their mighty swords with armor that grows larger and more elaborate with each tournament. But one warrior has returned from studying abroad with a technique certain to force a pleasurable eruption! Is there a competitor alive able to withstand it? Or is this deft warrior destined to become king?!

Let me be clear: this series is ridiculous, and I love it! The characters are so extra it's impossible to take them seriously for once (okay, maybe now and then, but it's really rare!), which is exactly what makes it a great option if you want to lay down and enjoy and laugh for a while. I don't remember the last time when I got to crack so hard while reading!

The characters are lovely, even as extra as they can be, and the setting is also interesting. There is not so much character development as one might prefer, but who cares? This is a series to just roll with, let things be, and enjoy the eye candy, because that is something Reibun Ike got straight from the beginning: this is a long-form fan-service product one cannot complain about.

Other than that, there's not a lot that can be said about this series, which is why I don't give it a higher rating. It's nice, it's fun, it has great art (although the censorship is... ridiculous, in a bad way; why even bother, really? We all know what's happening and there's a clear "explicit content" sign on the cover, that's the whole reason why I read the book!), but there's not much else to talk about.

Although I wasn't a huge fan of the second volume for it feeling disorganized at times, I still liked getting to know more about the characters, what happened before and after the competition, and how things ended for some of them. It's the kind of reading that you remember for how different it is, because that is one thing for sure: I don't think any of us would have thought about something like this. As long as you don't expect magnificence, you will love it!

Kinky regards, K!
