Thomas Hill is a lonely embalmer who's in some big trouble - his ex-boyfriend has been forcing him to illegally sell dangerous chemicals with no signs of stopping, and Tom doesn't know what to do. His situation gets even more complicated when Cypress Holmes, a smoking hot local florist, walks in on Tom making a deal. Cypress agrees to keep quiet, but his silence comes at a price. He wants Tom to do exactly as he says and to give him complete and total control over his body at all times. Tom now has no choice but to obey Cypress's every command to stay out of jail. But when Cypress starts spanking him and tying him up, he realizes he doesn't mind the rough treatment at all. With or without the threat of blackmail hanging over his head, he likes what Cypress does to him... and he doesn't want it to stop.Author's Note: This book includes intense sexual scenes, rough spankings, and depictions of death and embalming as they relate to the funeral industry. If this material offends or may upset you, please don't buy this book.
After I read Acsquidentally In Love, a smutty novel that drove me crazy, and for which I also had an interview with the author, there wasn't a chance I was going to pass on this novel! The sole idea of sex and death being combined was way much temptation, and knowing Kat's style I had high expectations about this book. Guess who was right?
Thom and Cypress were the perfect match from their first scene together, and I mean scene in two way! You'll get it when you read it. This novel had a high dose of drama and tension that kept building up as the novel progressed, but you don't realize it because, one, the characters and the romance develop pretty nicely, and two, the sex is way too great!
You think you've read BDSM? Think twice, btch. This book has some surprises in store for you, each better than the last one. The style is highly explicit and so are the dialogues. It shows that Kat had a lot of fun with this book! And the ending. Sweet heaven, that plot twist at the end! It is not only the scene itself, which was amazing, but the message it carries: You never know a person, not completely.
While their romance started being a bit toxic and it worried me a lot how things would go from there, Thom and Cypress made The Last One to Let You Down a great novel. If you like all things about death, you're curious about the funerary industru, and want so high-voltage BDSM gay sex, this book will be love at first page. K.L. Hiers is on her way to become one of my favorite authors!
