Midnight Thoughts: Healing Sexual Trauma

Hello cuties. I hope you're well and feeling great. This entry will be a bit longer than expected, bit because it's important to me to let a few things go. I've always been clear about my opinion on virginity, and don't get me wrong, I'm not taking back my words. However, I do have to share something important maybe a very few of you may know: I'm not that concerned about virginity anymore.
Let me give you some background. A few weeks ago, I was walking on the street at night, feeling so bad because a nice, handsome, and friendly guy ghosted me all of a sudden. I was flabbergasted, broken, although, as I told him in a last message, I understood he would want to meet someone in a better position. Mine is very complicated right now, so I kind of got it. He never gave me any indication he was done with me, but the whole opposite: despite talking to other guys, I was supposedly the one he talked with the most.

While talking with him, I told him sexual activity of any kind is very important and meaningful to me, and because of that I was still a virgin. Not a problem, he said. After all these years, I was more open to not staying virgin until marriage, and I was thinking that I would take the chance to be with him if things worked. Fast forward a few days after that, to my aha moment in the middle of a rainy night.

Since I was a kid, I always heard the adults saying that a girl who wouldn't be virgin until marriage was easy, a bitch, loose, and all you can imagine, but a man? That as understandable, because a man has his needs and... what else can you expect? At some point, I made some really weird math about and thought "well, what can you expect? I'll show you. I'm not less valuable because I'm just a guy".

Fast forward years later, that night, 26, almost 27 years old, insecure about who I am and who would want to be with a man who knows the theory but not the practice about sex. What. In. The. Name. Was I doing? I didn't understand how it was possible that so many years I wouldn't get back had passed me by. While it's true I didn't have the simplest, easiest of lives, or the hardest, for all that it's worth, I still refused to have sex before marriage because... what would you expect?

I've been thinking about it for many days, talked a lot with my friends about it, and I'm sure that I still want to wait for a person who values me and cares about me, not a stranger that sees me a piece of meat to have some fun with. I downloaded Grindr one day, and uninstalled it the next day after getting an almost dick pic, being hit on, and invited for a threesome. Flattered, sure, but more disgusted than anything else, because I didn't know these people.

After so much time, thinking so much, and getting to know so many wonderful people around, I know I'm not more worthy because I'm chaste. If anything, trying to prove to someone that I'm just as valuable because I'm a man, has caused me a lot of tension, stress, and doubts. I never minded the mocks and jokes about it, I can handle those, but my sense of losing something? Of not knowing who I am because I never got and never gave myself the chance? That's something else.

However, I'm not waiting to find Perfection Incarnate to lose my virginity anymore. I do want to have a connection, get to know that person, like them, fall in love, but not marriage. I know who I am, I know what I'm worth, I've proved it to myself time and time again. I'm not getting 27 years of my life back, and I'm not losing another one. Guess this is my way of saying I tried doing it your way, but now it's mine. Also, I might start working with Aphrodite and Eros to have some healing done. Any ideas?

Kinky regards, K!

Book review: Kraken My Heart

Good morning, cuties. How is your week going? Mine is getting there, and books are helping in the process. There's one I've been enjoying for the last few days, one I should have started a long, LONG time ago, that I'm sure you're gonna love if you're into fantasy sex, monster sex, to be more specific. I'm talking about Kraken My Heart, by K.L. Hiers. Thanks to the author for sending me a review copy!

  • Saga: Sucker For Love Mysteries #2.
  • Print Length: 216 pages.
  • Publisher: Dreamspinner Press (May 18, 2021)
  • Publication Date: May 18, 2021.
  • Genres: Romance, Drama, Fantasy, Tentacles, Homoerotic.
  • Rating: 5 / 5 stars.
It’s just Ted’s luck that he meets the love of his life while covered in the blood of a murder victim.
Funeral worker Ted Sturm has a foul mouth, a big heart, and a knack for communicating with the dead. Unfortunately the dead don’t make very good friends, and Ted’s only living pal, his roommate, just rescued a strange cat who’s determined to make his life even more miserable. This cat is more than he seems, and soon Ted finds himself in an alternate dimension… and on top of a dead body.
When Ted is accused of murder, his only ally in a strange world full of powerful magical beings calling for his head is King Grell, a sarcastic, randy, catlike immortal with impressive abilities… and anatomy. The two soon find themselves at the center of a cosmic conspiracy and surrounded by dangerous enemies. But with Ted’s special skills and Grell’s magic, they have a chance to get to the bottom of the mystery and save Ted. There’s just one problem: Ted’s got to resist Grell’s aggressive advances… and he isn’t sure he wants to.

I honestly missed this world so much! While it's true that it's a bit independent from the previous novel, Kraken My Heart takes place in the same universe, not strictly speaking because you get to know more of the fantasy world instead of the narration taking place in the human world. There are a few scenes at the beginning, and some references now and then, but that's about it. Into immersive readings? This is your kind of book.

There is this push and pull dynamic that kept the relationship between Ted and Grell interesting, and although it could look like insta-love when you start reading, it develops into a nice romance as you advance. The development is just a marvel, with a high dose of humor and teasing along the way that balanced with the fantasy elements.

Honestly, I became a little lost with all the names and races, all the different terms that were used now and then. This took me out of the reading several times because I could hardly remember the whole cast or some elements. It doesn't happen that often, so you just need to be more attentive than me, and maybe not read other books at the same time.

Kraken My Heart is one of those books that make you smile over and over again. I lost count of the many times I laughed and had to, ahem, relieve myself. I'm only saying that the erotic elements liv ed up to the expectations, all the teasing and jokes were not in vain for sure. If you want to know more about Kat, you can read my review on book 1 of this series, the interview I had with them about it, my review of The Last One to Let You Down, and the interview about it as well.

Manga: Hanger Vol. 1

Good morning, cuties. How was your weekend? I hope you're in the mood for some light reading, because there's a manga that I dwelt in to escape from reality for a while and get out of my comfort zone as a reader, because seldom I put my eyes on something SciFi. However, I'm glad I made the exception with Hanger Vol. 1, by Hirotaka Kisaragi. Thanks to the publisher for sending me a review copy!

  • Print Length: 176 pages.
  • Publisher: TokyoPop (July 17, 2018).
  • Publication Date: July 17, 2018.
  • Genres: Gay, Romance, SciFi, Yaoi.
  • Rating: 4 / 5.
In a futuristic Neo-Tokyo, crime is rising rapidly in the wake of a new generation of super-drugs capable of enhancing the user’s physical and mental abilities. Hajime Tsukumo is a new recruit on a federal task force trained to go after these powered-up criminals. Now he must team up with Zeroichi, a so-called Hanger looking to reduce his own jail sentence in exchange for helping to take down these chemically-boosted bad guys.

The story's pretty fast in many regards, something you can expect in young and new adult readings. However, there are a few adult themes and crude scenes that make it more interesting for adults. There's a moral element, a power-play and interesting dynamic between Hajime and Zeroichi that keeps you interested in the whole story.

As if the interactions of these two wasn't enough, there's also another pair that add their own charm to the plot, making Hanger Vol. 1 a reading you can't put down. There's a lot about friendship, control, and ego in the matter, but also a lot of feeling, emotional trauma, and baggage. A few new characters are introduced at the end, giving some more information about the nature of Hangers. Much darker than you'd expect, let me tell you!

While it's a quick reading and the chemistry between these two characters is obvious, some things moved faster than others, and I feel the romance part was a bit rushed. It is true that the story is intended for a younger audience and that we don't meet them from the very start, but I wish we had seen a bit more explicitly what made their dynamics change.

All in all, I really enjoyed reading Hanger Vol. 1. It's a light reading that gets you inside an interesting world with a lot of social issues, which you already know I'm a sucker for, with beautiful art, an interesting concept that appeals to both adult and young readers, and a nice script. I'm really eager to know more about these two and the world they live in!

Manga: I'm Looking for Serious Love!

Hello pornies. How's everything going over there? Today I come with another manga that will make you smile and laugh a lot, that's for sure. It did wonders to my mental state and I can only hope it does the same to those who read it: I'm Looking for Serious Love!, by Shoko Rakuta. Thanks to the publisher for sending me a review copy!

  • Print Length: 208 pages.
  • Publisher: TokyoPop (October 13, 2021).
  • Publication Date: October 13, 2021.
  • Genres: Comedy, Gay, Romance, Yaoi.
  • Rating: 4 / 5.
Born and raised in the countryside, Kyouhei immediately clashes with his next door neighbor, an outgoing playboy called Takara, when he moves to Tokyo. As someone who's always been teased for being a country bumpkin, he doesn't exactly have much in common with an extroverted city boy.
But when Takara makes a move on him one day, Kyouhei can't get it out of his mind. Even though he can barely stand Takara, he can't help finding himself strangely drawn to him. But Kyouhei's not looking for a one night stand; he's looking for serious love!
Please note: this book contains explicit content and darker elements, including mature language, violence, and non-consensual sex. It is not intended for anyone under 18 years of age.

I want to start by saying this is not for the light-hearted. While it is not horror or heavy, this manga deals with a few difficult subjects and some morally-ambiguous characters. I don't usually start with the cons and the problems, but seeing that there were so many negative reviews that could have been avoided by reading the synopsis and disclaimer, I feel it is very unfair since it was very entertaining and cute.

That being said, sorry if I let my fanboy take control from now on. I loved how sweet this manga was at times, being but humorous and cruel with both main characters, presenting an interesting enemies-to-lovers dynamic. I'm Looking for Serious Love! is the kind of story you'd read if you want simplicity and complexity in good balance.

While it is true that many classical elements and troupes of yaoi are present here, they don't lack charm or appeal because of how the author develops the whole story. The serious, problematic scenes, were treated just like they should, and while it may seem controversial for some, I enjoyed the gray atmosphere that became something more wholesome. Also, hurray for the uncensored content! More of that and more often!

Although a bit controversial and a bit morally-ambiguous, I'm Looking for Serious Love! is a story easy to enjoy and explore with an open mind. Don't let the cute looks fool you, making you think it will be simple to have an opinion so easily on this book. It will be interesting for sure, but it will also make you smile and laugh a lot at the bittersweet yet funny interactions between the characters.

Midnight Thoughts: Incorporating Medusa to my Practice + Videos

Rise and shine, pornies! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Right now it's the total opposite of Midnight here at home, but let's play pretend. Yesterday, after a stress crisis, I was reading about some figures and entities from mythology, and there's one I've always been interested in, a monster from Ancient Greece that I've been fascinated with since I was a kid: Medusa.
Medusa, by Peter Paul Rubens (c. 1618). Source.
Portrayed as a monster, found guilty by a crime she didn't commit, executed by abusers, and then kept as a trophy, Medusa's story spoke to me before I understood why. She was mistreated and abused by everyone around her, and depending on which version you read, she was either a mortal turned into a monster or a creature born from the sea.

I believe the most popular version of her myth, and the one I got to know first when I was a child, was that of her being a human priestess devoted to Athena, so beautiful and so pure Poseidon raped her in the temple she served. Athena, however, far from punishing the abuser and standing with her priestess, she transformed her into the monster we all know today. Exiled, she is persecuted and hunted by many, until Perseus kills her to save princess Andromeda, princess of Aethiopia, who was to be offered as sacrifice after her mother says she's more beautiful than the Nereids, thus enraging Poseidon who in turns sends the sea monster Cetus as a punishment

However, I then learned that in the original version she was the daughter of primordial sea deities  Phorcys and Ceto, and had two sisters, Stheno and Euryale. This would make them sisters to monsters and creatures such as Echidna, the Graeae, Ladon, the Hesperides, and possibly Thoosa. The depths of the sea seem to be the source of many monsters and dangers, and Medusa could be the less dangerous of them all, maybe not as evil as she was portrayed:

There also a video re-examining the meaning behind some version of her myth and I find it quite curious because it could lead you to think Medusa is also a guardian of purity and beauty:

What do you think about it? For me, Medusa is a symbol of self-defense and protection, and since the figure of the gorgon was also seen as protectors of oracles, she could definitely help with divination sessions (does anyone know about Medusa tarot/oracle cards?) Also, I cannot help but see that her story has a lot to do with beauty: she was either the most beautiful of the gorgons, so beautiful Poseidon abused her, so beautiful Athena feared for her and others taking advantage of Medusa, or as a weapon to save a beautiful princess.

This last thing makes me think: if both Medusa and Andromeda we beautiful, why was one condemned and the other was saved? One thing to wonder for the next post, hehe, but meanwhile, what do you think about Medusa? Does she represent something for you?

Manga: Tomorrow, Make Me Yours

Good morning, pornies! I hope you're feeling great. I promise you I wanted to do a book review today, but I saw this beautiful cover and couldn't control myself. Even less when I saw that title. Ours was meant to be! And I want to share what a reading it was to go through Tomorrow, Make Me Yours, by Kaoruko Miyama. Thanks to the publisher for sending me a review copy!

  • Print Length: 210 pages.
  • Publisher: TokyoPop (May 24, 2022)
  • Publication Date: May 24, 2022.
  • Genres: Comedy, Gay, Romance, Yaoi.
  • Rating: 4 / 5.
Yuki is a quiet, average boy who falls head over heels for the confident and cool Hayato in his new high school class. The two hit it off with an easygoing friendship, but when Yuki realizes that a female classmate has a crush on his friend, he tries to put some distance between them. As his feelings come to a head, he finally confesses to Hayato... who confesses right back!

I have to say that there's nothing that makes this story unique besides how cute it is. I mean, seriously, there were many, MANY scenes that made my inner fanboy happy AF. It has a very fast pace, so you may not realize you're done with it when you reach the final chapter. It's page after page of wholesome romance that will give you more smiles than you can expect.

It was easy to see myself in both Hayato and Yuki, mostly on the last one because I was always the shy boy at class. I'm sure many will be able to see bits and pieces of themselves in this story as well, for the record. However, as I mentioned before, it is such a wholesome story that you cannot help but fall in love with Tomorrow, Make Me Yours.

Some people mentioned red flags in Yuki and Hayato's relationship, and I think I could understand this. However, this story plays a little with the clichés we all know from yaoi manga. It will be a refreshing reading for those who are discovering the genre, and a good escaping route for us who've read a bit more. The focus here is the daydreaming and little dramas that involve young love.

I would recommend this manga to basically anyone who wants an easy, quick, yet funny and cute reading to pass the day, because it is not very long either. Tomorrow, Make Me Yours is the kind of book you'd like to read when you need to feel better, dream like you did as a teenager, and still get a slightly decent dose of spice. Being a standalone, the best you can wait for is for Kaoruko Miyama to write another story.

Poem: The Boy in Green

Boy in green, boy in green, where you hiding, boy in green?
Inside the closet, under the bed?
Inside the bathroom, under the stairs?
Boy in green, boy in green, won't you come out and play?

You get lost in your words and in foreign worlds,
I see you escaping at the littlest chance.
Boy in green, I see you cry, I see you shout,
Are you sad, are you angry, or are you scared?

Every day, you dress like you want,
Nobody hears, but you speak your mind.
Boy in green, you little thing,
You make so much noise, but what for?

You get lost in the woods with your eyes closed,
You see many eyes when you look at smoke,
Yet your voice is ignored, your tears dry alone,
"Man up" they say, yet you've worn out your lungs.

Green is your soul, hard to the core after so many blows.
Green is your hope, with less numbers at the end of the day.
Boy in green, boy in green, I see you hiding, why is it?
Boy in green, boy in green, they're calling for you, they're calling for me.

Book review: The Witch's Name

Hello cuties. I hope you've been okay. This week was insufferable, to be honest. However, I spent the time finishing a book I wanted to read since I knew about it. Of course I ended loving it because it comes from one of warlocks I admire the most. I'm speaking about The Witch's Name: Crafting Identities of Magical Power, by Storm Faerywolf. Thanks to the publisher for sending me a review copy!

  • Print Length: 264 pages.
  • Publisher: Llewellyn Publications (August 8, 2021)
  • Publication Date: August 8, 2021.
  • Topics: Yoga, Meditation, Psychic Development, Elements, Witchcraft.
  • Rating: 5 / 5 stars.
Create a Magical Identity that Resonates Deeply with Your Soul
The magical name is one of the most powerful tools in Witchcraft. Each time you use it, a spell is cast that empowers and protects you while also helping you transform into the Witch you've always wanted to be. Not just another book of monikers, this thoughtful resource will help you understand the history and mythology of spiritual names according to various cultures. Explore your strengths and reveal deeper layers of your true self with meditations, rituals, journaling, and other practical exercises. With inspiring ideas for how animals, plants, astrology, and tarot can help you form your magical persona, Storm Faerywolf provides clear steps for choosing and claiming the right name. You'll also enjoy wise words from well-known contributors like Mat Auryn, Phoenix LeFae, Gwion Raven, and Laura Tempest Zakroff. You are a unique, magical being. Your Witch name should reflect that.

After that first interview about names, labels, and their power, I knew I had to read this book, so I asked for a review copy as soon as I could. As I said before, I loved it from beginning to end. It's fascinating to know how this man got started as a witch, what it was like for him in the beginning, where his name came from, and how anyone can get a new one.

I always saw the act of naming oneself as rather simple, or so it was for me. However, there are other elements that can be considered in order to craft a new identify depending on who we are at the moment, who we aspire to be, to do. Storm explains all this with easy, but without taking out the importance of each step. We are given a very practical book filled with meditations, spells, and rituals that also guides us through that journey of self-discovery.

From mythology, history, examples, animals, plants, stones, even creatures, we get to know the meaning behind many elements usually used as part of a witch's name. Not only that, but we are also given many tools so we know ourselves better, in a deeper, more meaningful way. The result is a reading that will help you discover an important part of yourself, mostly who you are as a witch.

As I said, for me, the act of getting a new name has been simple, but reading The Witch's Name: Crafting Identities of Magical Power has helped me understand better what lies beneath. For those who wish to get started in their path, or those who are considering who they are. It's hard to think about something negative, or someone who wouldn't benefit from this book, so I'll just keep on hyping and loving it. You should do the same.
