Thank you, blessed be!

"Musings of a Divine Nature," by St-Jinx.
Thank you so much for being in this journey by my side,
Thank you for showing me how far I can fly,
Thank you for being there when I could stand upright,
Thank you for singing with me when I had no lips.

Pornies, what a year! I am still processing everything that happened in my life, and pardon me if I cannot share the details due to privacy, but rest assured that I sank into Hell and came back, all in one piece, it seems!

I have learned so much this year that I will be grateful for a long time for living the things I lived, although many (you can be sure AS HELL there were MANY of them) were a nightmare to deal with. However, it is what it is, and we can either curl in the floor and wait for Prince Charming to come save the day or become Prince Charming. Or, if you're like me, forget about princes and be the Wickedest Witch of them all. Who care about royalty nowadays, anyway?

A couple of nights ago I was reading the cards for a serious matter, and asked my Beloved Dead, my ancestors of blood, to guide me, and guess what? They actually picked up the phone, told me which deck of cards to use and started talking like crazy through the reading. I looked at the cards and got images and words, and when looking at the meaning of the cards, OMG. It was the craziest session of them all.

Although it scared me a little, gotta be honest in this regard, I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT. It was the proof I needed that I have improved, that I am on the right track. There's still too much work to do, many books to read, and who knows what else? But no matter how erratic and hectic this path becomes, I know I am supported, I know I am improving, and I know you are as well.

No matter what the world tells you, dear, sweet witch of mine, you are amazing, you are beautiful and I admire you. I am so fucking proud of being in this world with you that I refuse to let anyone, even yourself, to make you think otherwise. Rest assured that you are loved.

May all your wet dreams come true this 2020, may Death be ever in your favor, and may the Godds shine your divine path among muggles and mortals.

We are here, we are bright, we are kink and together we are free.

Kinky regards, K!

Book review: Curse of the Dead-Eyed Doll

Hi pornies! New Year is so near you can almost taste it in the air. Can you? For me, it tastes like chocolate, and it sure as hell doesn’t have anything to do with the industrial quantities I am eating these days. Nope, at all.

Today’s review is about a book that teaches us about the importance of respecting haunted/cursed dolls. I am sure you know what I am talking about, and no, it is not an Anabelle-kind of doll. (Side note: Why does everyone loves those movies so much? I watched The Conjuring and it was BAD. Like, really bad.)

  • Series: Haunted States of America (#5)
  • Print Length: 136 pages
  • Publisher: North Star Editions (September 1, 2019)
  • Publishing Date: September 1, 2019
  • ISBN-10: 1631633473
  • ISBN-13: 978-1631633478

Curse of the Dead-Eyed Doll, by Thomas Kingsley Troupe, with illustrations by Maggie Ivy, is the fifth in the Haunted States of America series, composed by books that explore the legends and scary stories that each of the States has. This one is about a doll that will curse you if you don’t ask for his permission before taking any photo or if you offend him in any way.

The story is pretty simple: We follow a Latin boy who does exactly what he is told not to do, and his life is ruined overnight. Nightmare, scary voices, hallucinations, unexplicable happenings, and the like make him go crazy as he fights with the stupid idea of a magical doll, although it doesn’t seem that stupid as the hours pass him by.

Needless to say that Curse of the Dead-Eyed Doll is a Young-Adult book, so why am I speaking about it in here? Simple: Because it offers the valuable, understimated lesson of being respectful towards the unknown, even more if it has anything to do with entities.

I don’t know or care if Thomas Kingsley Troupe had this in mind when writing the book (probably not, let’s be honest here,) but I can see many of us witches, making fun of things we didn’t undrstand when we were younger and though ourselves to be untouchable. While it was fun reading it and remember what it was like to be a pre-teen, Curse of the Dead-Eyed Doll also shows us to remain humble and respectful about what we don’t understand.

Although I'm not that fond on Maggie Ivy's illustrations, she did a great job bringing to life (wake me up, wake me up inside) some of the most interesting and creeping scenes of the novel. I liked it even more since they are black and white images, giving an eerier air to the pictures. Not my style, but nice nonetheless.

Also, I have to mention that the author has a smooth style that makes this a quick, entertaining reading. Thomas Kingsley Troupe made everything look so pretty and shine before making it all creepy, dark, and even disturbing at some point. I like dark book, and this one certainly is one perfect for kids and youngsters curious about haunted dolls.

I’m not sure if I will keep reading the Haunted States of America series, but Curse of the Dead-Eyed Doll, by Thomas Kingsley Troupe, was a pleasant surprise for me this year. If you’d like to remember what it was like to be a kid or to teach yours’, or someone else’s, about this topics, grab this book and let it do its magic. Thanks to the publisher for the copy!

About Thomas Kingsley Troupe:
Thomas Kingsley Troupe has been making up stories ever since he was in short pants. As an adult, hes the author of a whole lot of books for kids. When hes not writing, he enjoys movies, biking, taking naps, and hunting ghosts as a member of the Twin Cities Paranormal Society. Raised in Nordeast Minneapolis, he now lives in Woodbury, Minnesota with his awe-inspiring family.

Book review: Pop Magick

Hey there! How are you today, pornies? Ready to welcome 2020? I’m running, sometimes literally, to do everything I need to get done before New Year. Hope you are not in the same situation.

The market seems to have been plagued by introductory books on the Craft so lately that it is a bit of a hectic process to get the right one. However, there are some cases when you hear a calling and say You, this one, me likes. That’s what happened when I saw Pop Magick: A Simple Guide to Bending Your Reality, by Alex Kazemi, perfect reading for the millennial witch.

  • Print Length: 208 pages
  • Publisher: Permuted Press (February 18, 2020)
  • Expected Publication Date: February 18, 2020
  • ISBN-10: 1682618803
  • ISBN-13: 978-1682618806

First of all, you may have read it includes a foreword written by Rose McGowan, aka Paige Matthews from the legendary Charmed TV series. (Damn, I feel old.) I admit it was a smart choice to include her, but, honestly, two paragraphs may as well be the shortest prologue ever. There, I said it. May the Halliwell Matriarchs have mercy on me.

That put aside, I can tell you I enjoyed reading this book. Funny, informal and free of old mysteries or arcane teachings, Pop Magick is intended for the young witches, the new generation of the Craft.

Alex Kazemi has a fresh style that makes you fall in love with your magic and your energy. He reminds you why you became a witch in the first place, why you decided to cast that first spell. You recover that eagerness to practice and to light a candle for whichever wish you could think of, and, honestly, I believe we all to do it now and then.  While reading, I felt I was learning from scratch, that I was that teenager in a bedroom casting spells to stop the bullies and have better grades. Guess what? It was fucking glorious.

The only problem I have with Pop Magick is with the sexual sections. Although the author tells us we are all free to be as sexual as we want to be, Alex Kazemi doesn’t hold his tongue when condemning sexting, porn, masturbation, and so on.

The first one is understandable, but the others? It was a lot of pages and a lot of space which sole purpose was to say that sexual energy can be used for magic if not released for pleasure, and I think I also got the feeling there was a bit of ego in the matter? Yeah, I understand the benefits of abstinence when searching for bigger results, I have felt it and practiced it, but I felt he was a bit too bitter on the matter.

This also put aside, Pop Magick: A Simple Guide to Bending Your Reality, by Alex Kazemi, is amazing, perfect for those who are discovering the marvels of Witchcraft for the first time and want to know more about it. Although it favors the Moon a lot and doesn’t explain the magic of the Sun at all, this book is a good introduction that will help new witches to begin with a solid basis. Thanks to the publisher for the copy!

Why Big Girl Now should be a Gay Anthem + Gay-ified lyrics

Hey there! hope you are doing well, pornies!

A few days ago I support Mr. Troy Accola in the Gay VMA for Best Butt (GO DO IT, BTCHS) and rewrote a line from Big Girl Now, from NKOTB ft. Lady fucking perfect Gaga. In case you don’t know what I’m talking about, here it is for your delight:

When I got to think about it, I realized this song captures perfectly what it means to be a GBTQ+ guy who gets the fuck out of the closet and breaks free from shame and fear. Even more if you are young!

Now, the song is clearly sexual, but if you think about it, Gaga sings that she’s hunting for her man, unafraid of what will happen what others will say. She feels confident, sexy and free to do with her life as she pleases. She is in full power, and the guys are sweating for her, which is exactly what I felt when I came out to my classmates in Senior Year (except for that last phrase; my mates had bad taste, if I may say).

I have seen a lot of people criticizing the LGBT+ community, the Gay Community mostly, for how hyper-sexual it is, but as far as I can see, we have been shamed, neglected, hated, hurt and denied so many things, like, I don’t know, justice, love, family, acceptance, friends, equality, opportunities, and so on, that when we finally have the courage to come out, we want it all.

We don’t care what others think, what they will say or what we look like in their eyes. We are excited, hyped and confident. We are our true selves, we are free, and we want to dance until we drop dead on the floor. Can you think of anything as sexy, as hot, as a confident man?

I’m sure as hell nobody involved with this song was thinking about the LGBT+ community when working on Big Girl Now, but who cares? Not me, certainly not me. For me, this is a Gay Closet-Shattering Anthem.

As proof, here are the gay-ified lyrics, which, surprisingly, don’t change at all. If there is anyone with a singing talent, please, please do a Gay cover with these. Enjoy!

I'm a big boy, you're a big guy now, now, ow
I'm a big guy, you're a big boy now, now, ow

Back in the day when you were young (it was fun)
Little guy, didn't think you were the one (now here I come)
Your sexy walk, your sexy talk (that's whats up)
Little guy, you're clearly not the same kid from the block

I ain't that little guy no more
Not no more, that's for sure
Boy get your ass out on the floor
Let's explore, let's explore

You know I like the way you moving (moving)
Guy you're all grown up and now your ready to let it go
Wanna be a big guy, got to prove it (prove it)
With a body like that you got a grown man ready to blow

Back in the day when I was young (kinda dumb)
But I always knew I'd be the one (guy here you come)
Gonna get you wet, gonna make you sweat (guy I bet)
Gonna give you something you ain't ever gonna forget

You ain't no little guy no more (nope)
That's for sure (yup), booty like oh
Wanna work it like a big guy let's explore
Now drop it to the floor, baby get raw

I've been waiting too long for you to get naughty
Big mistake but daddy come on, touch my body
Baby good things come to those who wait
Come and take it now before it's too late

Kinky regards, K!

Christmas Thanks!

Hello, pornies.

This time I come with no reviews, but to wish you all a Happy Holiday Season, a Merry Christmas, a Blessed Yule, and everything else. I don’t care where you are, with whom, or what you celebrate, and to thank each and every one of you for being here with me during this year. I really appreciate the love, the kind words and the support you have given me these past months.

Although I am more of an October guy, I love the vibe in the air when my family comes together for the season, how everyone seems to be in a good mood, and I have to say that this year in particular there’sa je ne ses qua. It’s hard to explain, but it’s like everythign is finally falling in its rightful place.

Thank you for being here, thank you for the cute words you send me now and then, for the comments, the likes, the feedback, and the love. The love, most of all.

Looking back, this was a good year, not as much as I expected, but I learned a fucking lot, there were great readings coming out every month, and I was called cute! I am 24 years old, and I was called cute. LOL. I’m still happy because of that. Yeah, I’m a baby, deal with me.

If you’re wondering why I’m so hyped because of that it’s because I really, really dislike what I look like. I used to hate my image, my face, my whole freaking body, but I am working on that, and, well, it’s getting better, or so I like to think.

I am here because I want to be myself, to be free. The worst chains are those we impose unto ourselves, and I want to break free once and for all. Books, movies, comments, hell, even porn! Everything has helped me, little by little, to have a major change in myself: I don’t hate myself anymore.

And you’ve been there, and that’s what I am grateful for this year. May the Godds bless you, pornies!

Kinky regards, K!

Book review: A Husband for Santa

Hi pornies! How are those Holiday plans going? I hope great!

I didn’t expect to read another Christmas story so soon, but reading the synopsis A Husband for Santa, by Doreen Heron, I had to give this one a try. It sounded like a a good novel, and I told myself Why not? However, it wasn’t what I expected.

  • Print Length: 88 pages
  • Publisher: NineStar Press (December 23, 2019)
  • Publication Date: December 23, 2019
  • ASIN: B082VLF1ZZ

Turk is the next Father Christmas in line, the son of the current Santa. He has been waiting to be in charge since he could remember, but his parents won’t let him since he doesn’t have a wife. Claiming this to be a ridiculous reason not to give him his birthright, Turk goes to London to clear his mind, meeting Sym, a PhD candidate and Christmasologist in the making.

A Husband for Santa had all the right ingredients to become a cute story, but it rushed the romance way too much. After the first half of the book or so, I couldn’t but wonder why Doreen Heron jumping so much from chapter to chapter.

Don’t get me wrong. The start was incredible and I daydreamed about Lurk and Sym, but the instalove broke the spell. (Minor spoilers) I was waiting to see how Lurk’s parents would react when their son told them he is gay, why Sym’s dad is in jail, how that first meeting with Sym’s mom would be like, but none of that happened! Well, the first one kind of, but I didn’t expect Father Christmas to take things so lightly: if your son’s gay, great, but didn’t he think about having a grandson to take Turks place? (End of minor spoilers).

I read A Husband for Santa in just one hour or so. I like to have light readings now and then, and it doesn’t demand a lot of attention since it is pretty simple. Also, Doreen Heron describes so beautifully even the littlest detail that you imagine everything and fall in love with her writing.

I really wanted this book to work, but although it didn’t meet my expectations, it still was funny, cute and beautiful. A Husband for Santa, by Doreen Heron, was a good reading for the season. Thanks to the publisher for the copy!

About Doreen Heron:
Doreen Heron is a writer who is finally living her dream in Cornwall, England. She is lucky to live in the county she loves, and to be using her writing to entertain her readers.

Book review: Psychic Witch

Hi, pornies! I hope you are having a beautiful holiday season and that Daddy Claus gives you a nice gift this year. Hehe.

I recently finished a book everyone on my Instagram feed has been talking about. Coming from one of the witches I follow on Patheos Pagan, I couldn’t expect any less. Psychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick & Manifestation, by Mat Auryn, is everything I expected it to be and even more! Perfect for baby witches and Elders as well, it offers all the right tools to open that third eye once and for all.

  • Print Lenght: 312 pages
  • Publisher: Llewellyn Publications (February 8, 2020)
  • Expected Publication Date: February 8, 2020
  • ISBN-10: 0738760846
  • ISBN-13: 978-0738760841

If you think you must come from a long lineage of psychics or witches in order to develop strong psychic abilities, or that these talents are not connected to witchcraft, then this is the book for you. Psychic Witch is also the right book for you if you want to go further in your psychic practice, reach a new level and feel more confident about it. Or maybe you are simply wondering how these work, how humans can develop such talents.

Mat Auryn blends both Craft and science to explain the basic concepts behind his exercises. You get to understand how brainwaves work, how to alter them, how physical senses have a psychic counterpart, and how to fully develop each of them regardless of the one you are more naturally inclined to.

With a strong foundation on traditional and new practices, the author gives you +90 exercises that help you in your way. This doesn’t surprise me since he has studied with high-level Elders such as Devin Hunter, Christopher Penczak, and the one and only Laurie Cabot, the Official Witch of Salem, ladies and gentlemen.

What I loved the most about Psychic Witch is that it works for any kind of witch as long as they want it to work. You need no material, follow a particular tradition, or a schedule in order to practice, and you always get to know where the material is coming from. I admire Mat for how simple he makes things sound, which gives you enough confidence to follow his advice. And which reader wouldn’t do it?

Psychic Witch: A Metaphysical Guide to Meditation, Magick & Manifestation is that kind of book we’ve been waiting for since we discovered witchcraft, coming from one of the most well-learned and reliable practitioners of the Craft. Do yourself a favor a get a copy of this book once it is out in the market. Yep, your boy got an ARC. Thanks for sending it, Llewellyn!

Book review: TAD The Angel of Death

Hi, hello, konichiwa, pornies. So far so good over here, or let’s just say it is, shall we? What about you?

I have been reading A LOT these days, not surprise considering this is my third review in a row, but reading is the only addiction I support. Today I want to tell you about a strange, yet nice novel, titled TAD, by M. D. Neu, which I recently finished.

  • Paperback: 211 pages
  • Publisher: NineStar Press (September 12, 2019)
  • Publishing Date: September 12, 2019
  • ISBN-10: 1951057406
  • ISBN-13: 978-1951057404

TAD stands for The Angel of Death, and it’s the name our main character gets when he is stripped of his wings and forced to live as a human in New York after 9/11. One year later, starving on the streets about to lose his sanity once and for all, he is rescued by Dough, a fabulous, witty drag queen with a dark past and problems of his own. The two men develop a strange yet amusing friendship, but their bond will be tested when they change the curse of time, one little action after the other.

As I said before, this was a strange story, not only because it is not romance, as I expected it to be, but more about friendship and family. TAD is a story about how seemingly insignificant actions can provoke significant consequences. Butterfly effect, anyone? Yes, that’s what I’m talking about. It teaches us how important and critical can be our decisions and how one single person can make a difference.

However, M. D. Neu lost me many times as a reader. Despite the story is interesting and well-crafted, the development is not as good as I expected it to be. There are several years between chapters, which confused me a little at the beginning, and when I get used to the pace, there we go again, two or five years in the future.

Again, the story is good, and the characters made me smile, hell, I could see myself in TAD after he did a deal with Fate (my inner me, just in case; you’ll get it when you read it), but so much jumping disoriented me way too much to enjoy all of the narrative. Not only that, the ending was confusing as hell. I didn’t get it, at all, and I read the last pages to see if I didn’t understand something but nope, same result.

Despite this, we get to see how these two friends stand together no matter what, facing the fates, the angels, death, and politics (why was this a major theme in the plot, I don’t know.) TAD, by M. D. Neu, may not have been the best book for me, but it still gave me a good time and I enjoyed reading it. Also, it was amazing to have a drag queen as a protagonist. More of that, please! Thanks to the publisher for the copy!

PS: Not sure why, but I imaged Michael Herkes, aka The GLAM Witch, as Dough ALL THE TIME. Read it and let me know if it happens to you, too!

About M. D. Neu:
M.D. Neu is an award-winning LGBTQA Fiction Writer with a love for writing and travel. Living in the heart of Silicon Valley (San Jose, California) and growing up around technology, he’s always been fascinated with what could be. Specifically drawn to Science Fiction and Paranormal television and novels, M.D. Neu was inspired by the great Gene Roddenberry, George Lucas, Stephen King, Alice Walker, Alfred Hitchcock, Harvey Fierstein, Anne Rice, and Kim Stanley Robinson. An odd combination, but one that has influenced his writing.
Growing up in an accepting family as a gay man he always wondered why there were never stories reflecting who he was. Constantly surrounded by characters that only reflected heterosexual society, M.D. Neu decided he wanted to change that. So, he took to writing, wanting to tell good stories that reflected our diverse world.
When M.D. Neu isn’t writing, he works for a non-profit and travels with his biggest supporter and his harshest critic, Eric his husband of eighteen plus years.

Book review: Peter Cratchit’s Christmas Carol

Hello there, you pornies. Up to no good these holiday season? I hope so.

I don’t usually read Christmas-themed stories, but when I read the synopsis of Peter Cratchit’s Christmas Carol, by Drew Marvin Frayne, I thought Let’s give this one a chance, sounds like a good book. And o-m-g so it was!

  • Print Length: 119 pages
  • Publisher: NineStar Press (November 18, 2019)
  • Publication Date: November 18, 2019
  • ASIN: B081BCG5Y2

We all know the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the tyrant that hated Christmas more than anything and that lived for his business, but whatever happened to the other characters? In this book, we discover what was of little Peter Cratchit after Uncle Scrooge changed, and let me tell you that he didn’t so good: depressed, poor, traumatized, man-whore and famished are the first adjectives I can think about when describing this poor guy. Lucky him, there are three spirits on the way that will try to change things for the better.

Peter Cratchit’s Christmas Carol is a charming story about surviving stigma and the odds, with a character so human that it hurts to see what he has become years after the original tale ended. As a sequel, this book is loyal to the myth created by Dickens, but also with a magic of its own. It had its dark moments, let me tell you, in a Gothic vein you will enjoy for sure.

I loved how Drew Marvin Frayne developed the plot and the characters. He has a way of getting you into the scenarios so easy that I may be inclined to think he is a witch as well. Oh, well, one can dream. Anyway, he was brave enough to describe how Peter survives at the beginning of this tale, selling his body for miserable meals, but was also sweet and hot when he needed to be. You wouldn’t expect me to speak about a novel if it didn’t have sex, right? And this one, darlings, has a good dose of steamy scenes to get you aroused.

To be honest, I read it in almost a day, but since I started it late in the night I couldn’t continue. Really, I had to force myself to sleep before returning to this book. Peter Cratchit’s Christmas Carol, by Drew Marvin Frayne, offers valuable lessons, and yes, even a Grinch can enjoy this sweet, festive tale. Thanks to the publisher for the copy!

About Drew Marvin Frayne:
Drew Marvin Frayne is the pen name of a long-time author (Lambda Literary Award finalist) who is finally taking the opportunity to indulge his more sentimental and romantic side. When not writing the author lives with his husband of 20+ years and their dog of 10+ years in a brick home in the Northeast.
