Book Review: She/He/They/Me:For the Sisters, Misters, and Binary Resisters, by Robyn Ryle

Hello pornies!

Today I want to tell you about a book you might like: She/He/They/Me:For the Sisters, Misters, and Binary Resisters, by Robyn Ryle. Why? Because it is an academic work about genre and sexuality in a choose-your-own-adventure format.

She/He/They/Me analyses primarily the subject of gender, exploring different alternatives and ideas in regard of both topics. Do you imagine a society with no gender, for example? Or one with multiple genders? Maybe you want to know about what it means not to be a white man or woman in the U.S? Or perhaps you’re curious about how intersexuality happens before a baby is born? This books tries to give an answer to those doubts and more, and depending on which question or option you chose, you will pave your path toward the end.

Robyn Ryle did a surprising amount of research to include as many options as possible in She/He/They/Me, even some that we may not consider possible. I admire her work and passion on this, even more because she used a straight-forward language to keep this a simple reading. However, given the long list of cultures and views on the matter, she had to focus mostly on the U.S. and give brief glances at other countries.

What actually bothered me was the feminist tone in several chapters, as if she tried to redeem the feminine readers of the book. I know that there a long history of women about their gender roles and their perception as a weaker sex, but to have the masculine-focused chapters significantly shorter than the others created an unbalance.

That put aside, I actually enjoyed She/He/They/Me and would like to read something else by the author. I may not have agreed with some perceptions and points of view, but Robyn Ryle did a good job in general lines. Should you be interested in exploring a different life as a queer person, make sure to grab a copy!

Sigil Presentation: Ostara Sigil

Hello pornies!

Sorry for being horribly late with this sigil, but real life got in the middle (yeah, again. Sigh.)

Anyway! I wasn’t sure if this month’s full moon would occur along with Ostara, and it did. I confirmed it in several websites and decided to do a single ritual for both celebrations, and guess who had his first ever skyclad ritual? This guy! Nope, no photos. Never. I’m gonna speak about the experience later, but today is to present you my Ostara Sigil.

Ostara is all about fertility, creativity, new opportunities, and nourishment, that’s how I feel it, and so I decided to incorporate those ideas in the sigil. I decided to break with my own structure and ad two drops that shouldn’t be there according to my method, but witchcraft is about intuition, not structure.
How to use this sigil?
  • Draw it or trace in the items you will use for your Ostara ritual.
  • Inscribe inside the circle a symbol or a word about something you want to transform or nourish.
  • Draw it or trace on plants you wish to clean energetically.
  • Place inside the circle a photo of someone you want to send light to.
  • Any other use you can imagine!
Kinky regards!

Book Review: Dark Rainbow: Queer Erotic Horror, by Andrew Robertson

Source.
Hi pornies!

I just finished reading Dark Rainbow: Queer Erotic Horror, edited by Andrew Robertson. With 15 tales of horror, blood and sex, each author makes sure you stay up all night, not sure if you should feel horny or horrified, or maybe both things at the same time.

I was a bit sceptic on the matter because I’m still a newbie in the genre of Queer Horror, but this book surprised me with the variety of ideas, proposals and twists in each of the stories. They were all original and I certainly will keep an eye in this anthology series (yup, this is the first book, and there seem to be more to come!)

Honestly, the first stories in Dark Rainbow didn´t impress me, they seemed to be way too forced, as if either the LGBT or horror side of the plots were there just to make them fit on this anthology. However, lines started to blur, things became weirder, until I got immersed in a spiral of madness and sex. Me likes!

There is a bit of everything for everyone, different ideas that will resonate more with some readers, but the quality of the stories improved after the first ones. Hands down for Eye Contact, The God of Small Favours and The God Module, best ones for me, and that also have potential to become nice movies. I would like to see eyes getting out of their sockets, a supernatural monster hungry for sex and a gory orgy on the big screen. Well done, Andrew Robertson. Well done.

Kinky regards, K!

Sigil Presentation: MAR Moon Sigil

Hi pornies!

I hope you’re having a wonderful time. Today I want to share with you the sigil for March’s Full Moon. I know it as the Crow Moon, but use whichever name you prefer.

This moon is ideal to work with cleansing, new jobs, creativity and divination, and that’s exactly what I tried to represent on the sigil. Again, I’m working with the meanings and correspondences of Jess Carlson, which I really like. She’s a talented witch you should follow right effing now. For me, the Crow’s about introspection and inner working, so I incorporated those elements as well.
How to use this sigil?

  • Draw it or trace it on candles and/or items you will use for you Full Moon ritual.
  • Trace it in your Third Eye (center of your forehead, right above your eyebrow) for insight and enhance your divination skills.
  • As a tool to meditate with the Crow.
  • Write a letter to yourself explaining why you will get that new job (or any other earthly goal you have) you want and sign it with the sigil.
  • Any other use you can imagine!
Kinky regards!
